Re: Odd Mc Cranks

I do have one crank that has the added on weights but will have to look and see which one it is.

The Cheetah is a single engine model with a Terry Ives motor of some kind. Have not looked at it yet to tell just what I have for a power plant.

Horstman crank shaft

OK all you Mc experts put on your thinking caps. I just dismantled a partial Mc-20 that came with all the stuff I got with the Caretta. Again all these parts are from the late sixties when Cart Labs of Gresham Oregon closed down. Al and Randy Laders dad put all this stuff in the overhead of the gara...

Re: Odd Mc Cranks

I have some additional information on crank shaft number 89806. This crank would use two ball bearings of different sizes and it has no keyway in the PTO and also has left hand threads on the PTO side. Sounds like a 101B to me then what do I know about late model stuff. I also find I have a very nic...

Re: Odd Mc Cranks

Hi Dave and thanks for the post.

The first part number 87688 is a standard length crank that uses one ball and one needle bearing.

The second crank part number 89806 is shorter and uses two ball bearings rather than a ball and needle bearing. This may help identify them.

Odd Mc Cranks

One is part number 87688 and the second one is Part number 89806. The last one is a brand new one and the first one is a ver...

Re: MC5 - sidecover and nameplate orientation....

Nice looking motor but I never seen a Mc-5 with a starter pulley or a clutch back in the day. Try direct drive you will love it.

1961 Caretta in Oregon competed

Hi all Well here it is and I made it in time for the Medford Oregon run on the 12th and 13. here are a couple of pictures of how it turned out. This cart looks exactly like the one I drove in 61 right down to the candy green color I painted it that year. The cart came yellow as all Carettas did back...

Re: MC5 - sidecover and nameplate orientation....

As to using extra thick head gaskets for your stroked Mc 5 you mite consider doing what I have done to modify the head on my stroked Mc 6 that will be on my Caretta at Medford next month. I built a fixture to machine out a little material from inside the head so I can run a standard head gasket. I d...

Re: MC5 - sidecover and nameplate orientation....

Hi Guys I am also building a Mc 5 but I am starting with a very nice original stock bore and stock port Mc 5 stamped block that came with all my Caretta stuff out of Cart Labs in Gresham Oregon. I have picked up a brand new crank and rod from Zoe and I have a new early Mc 10 wide ring piston that th...

Front tires for a Caretta

Hi all Does anyone have a source for 410 by 350 by 4 inch tires for the front of my 61 Caretta? These would be 2 1/2 inch wide I believe. I have found 3 1/2 inch wide tires but would like a narrower one. Also does anyone know what size of rear tires was delivered on the Caretta when new from the fac...
