4 strokes at TBO.....WTF

Post by REAR » Sat Nov 22, 2025 8:35 am

As Randy Mapus pulled back in on Sunday morning at this years TBO he said he brought a 4 stroke with him. Everyone was horrified by the nerve of the guy but leave it to Randy, he had something up his sleeve. Before we could show him the exit gate Randy dropped the door of his trailer and he rolled out a full size sprint car.

Randy didn't bring just any sprint car, being the curator of the Fremont Speedway Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Randy brought one of Johnny Parsons old cars along with the issue of National Kart News that had a Johnny Parsons interview.

While everyone was checking the car over and Randy was answering numerous questions he said "If you want to sit in her, go ahead"
Holly Reitz and Jaydon Morral were just a few who hopped in to get the feel of the car.

Big Thanks to Randy once again however DO NOT get any ideas that a 4 stroke is welcome at TBO. :o

In 1974 IKF allowed the digger engines to compete. If not for that happening I would not have started racing at the time. The rules allowed up to a 5 hp engine of your choice. Soon to be relegated to the 5 hp B&S engine.

I first raced in 1974 at the local track after adopting the 4 stroke class. With a converted dead axle Fox kart, weekend racing with a 3 1/2 hp Tecumseh stolen from my mini bike. From there all I could do is move up.
