Hi guys.
I have been going though all the stuff that came from the old Cart Labs cart shop when I purchased my 61 Caretta back. What I have is two crank shafts that I cant ID. One is part number 87688 and the second one is Part number 89806.
The last one is a brand new one and the first one is a very nice used one. I have been going though all this stuff trying to get a handle on just what I have. Any help would be great
On another note I made a two day trip from McMinnville Oregon to Sacramento and back the last two days were I collected a Margay Cheetah side winder. This is the kind of cart that will let me drive as I have an artificial left hip and my Caretta was just to hard to drive all scrunched up. Payed for the few laps I did at Medford with lots of hip pain for two days afterwords. Was worth it though. Maybe losing about 60 pounds would help also. Then I think there are a few others of us in that situation."-((((((

Re: Odd Mc Cranks
Dennis,
the first i believe is a shot peened mc91 and the second is probably the mc101 version or vise versa.
i have a few of one of them myself.
the number is different to differentiate it from the stock one.
good parts.
dave
p.s.if you don't need them i'm looking for a few as i have more blocks than cranks all of the sudden.

Re: Odd Mc Cranks
Hi Dave and thanks for the post.
The first part number 87688 is a standard length crank that uses one ball and one needle bearing.
The second crank part number 89806 is shorter and uses two ball bearings rather than a ball and needle bearing. This may help identify them.

Re: Odd Mc Cranks
I have some additional information on crank shaft number 89806. This crank would use two ball bearings of different sizes and it has no keyway in the PTO and also has left hand threads on the PTO side. Sounds like a 101B to me then what do I know about late model stuff.
I also find I have a very nice Mc-100 crank that I have no use for.

Re: Odd Mc Cranks
all 101's use the same 2 crank bearings pn 66016, split race no cage or full compliment bearing. cranks with the larger pto bearing were used in super series engines prior to 101s, Mc-20, 30, 40, 45, 70, 75, 100, as well as numerous saw powerheads. The large pto bearing required the piston skirt to be scalloped on the exhaust side to clear the bearing pocket on the longer stroke models. 75s and 100s had infills cast into the bottom of the exhaust port to prevent the scalloped piston from freeporting at TDC. The fix on 101s was to switch back to the smaller diameter pto bearing, same size as the Mc-10 used.
It sounds like the crank you have is a 100cc super series kart engine replacement crank with LH threads, that is it did not come in a motor originally from the factory.
The 75 and 100 cranks had the additional steel counterweights added which is a good way to identify them from the others.
Is the Margay Cheetah you bought a dual engine version by any chance or is it an offset chassis single engine?

Re: Odd Mc Cranks
I do have one crank that has the added on weights but will have to look and see which one it is.
The Cheetah is a single engine model with a Terry Ives motor of some kind. Have not looked at it yet to tell just what I have for a power plant.
