"The number "6.8 million users" refers to the number of Facebook users whose photos may have been unintentionally exposed due to a bug in Facebook's photo API. This occurred in December 2018 when a bug allowed third-party apps, with user authorization, to access photos that users had uploaded but not posted. Facebook stated that they were working with affected app developers to delete the photos and notified users via an alert on Facebook."
