hey guys need a little help with the i.d of this kart maybe a rupp or dart maybe something else

Looks like an early Dart A-Bone. Pictures of the side and rear would help confirm. The pedals and bumper are definitely early Dart. Dart/Rupp are the same karts, Dart was built by Mickey Rupp at some point they dropped the Dart and just called them Rupp's. You can see the full '61 catalog at the Karting Archives.

Yup, looks like an early Dart, with some "improvements" ...keep cutting! Below are some links to a really sharp Fantastic 4 winner in 2005, Al Peckenpaugh and his girlfriend brought this one to TBO that year... and another kart, not sure who was the owner.

Yep, definitely an early Dart of some sort...Man, I would kill for that early Palmini brake cooler, talk about a rare part.

thanks dan it deffinatly need some work might keep it as a yard kart for the kids needs a new front axle one rear bearing hanger new front bumper new front number fairing not sure what i want to do yet



although seeing those pics u sent of the one restored gave me a little more aspiration for it

Pictures were courtesy of El Hefe Campbell..Definitely an inspiring collection show casing the fairly uncommon factory bumpers and a really gorgeous early Palmini brake cooler for the Bendix.

Sounds like you have the right idea in turning it into a yard kart for the kids (I can't believe I am actually saying this). It would be one thing if it was an uber-rare unobtanium kart, or it had some sentimental significance, but the fact of the matter is there are a TON of Dart A-Bones out there and would probably be cheaper to find a better candidate or nicely restored roller than to sink a ton of money into fixing up a badly mangled one. I would pull all of the serviceable vintage parts (bumper, turbine rims? etc.) and let the kids have at it.

i hear ya dan unless i find the courage to tank the chance to rebuild it im not a great welder so id be afraid of messing it up. but im sure my kids wont beat the snot out of it to bad so i could allways do it sometime well see what happens deffinatly wont get rid of it to waste
