all the yammering about Carettas reminded me that I was looking at some old pictures that a fellow who worked at Kurtis Kraft with Art Ingels sent me a couple years ago. His name is Everett Duncan.
They worked together building aluminum bodies for some 3/4 midgets (not Kurtis 1/4 midgets) Art built in the 50s.
One of the pictures happened to be of the FIRST Little Car (1st kart) Art built when he still worked at Kurtis Kraft. A couple of interesting details are the fabricated tube exhaust header, not the cast aluminum header which is in all the pictures claiming to be the first Caretta but are in fact pictures of the first production Caretta, AKA Super Little Cars.
Other major details about the first Little Car is it had a white seat and black frame kids.
I also got a kick from a picture of 1957 Indy 500 winner Sam Hanks riding a mini bike next to his Indy Car.
