I've been looking for Hartman clutch oil, haven't found any yet. One person sugested ATF type F should work fine. Anybody have any feedback on how this works or other suggestions??

1st event coming up real soon, need some advice.

Atf works fine . Just change it out often .

I've used synthetic ATF oil in my hartman clutches, seems to work just fine on the MC101 motors I have used the clutches on.

Ditto on the ATF.

That is all I used in my Hartmans 15-20 years ago when I was still running Macs in the Texas state series.
Cheap, and available everywere.

I have a question: I know alot of you use ATF, but ATF is very thin, and most clutch oils I have seen, Horstman, and Hartman included are alot thicker. Even L&T clutch oil is pretty thick. The Horstman oil wasn't red, so it probably did not have ATF in it.

What then is in the other oils to make them so thick?? They have a smell not far off from gear oil, you know, that sulpher smell.....

Some guys who race old vintage bikes claim they use ATF in the tranny, but it causes rapid wear, they don't care because the races are so short it is insignificant for ther application. They just like the fact that the tranny shifts much easier.

Jay, Metal shoe wet clutches like the Burco use 90wt. gear oils, organic or asbestos lined ones use a very light oil like ATF. Redline makes a high temperature version available from your local dealer or Summit racing. Works great in tow vehicles too. Dave

Its racing ATF
You can find it almost anywhere ---autozone--pepBoys etc..etc
