Good luck, Torrington didn't make needle rollers for Mcculloch , IBM made them.

What are you using Tom? Does Ives have any? Can a needle brg be taken apart and used? Can you still buy loose needles? I know they are getting harder to come by all the time.

Hey, Rob and Rick. I just bought a new 1/2" wrist pin and rod from Terry, and he sent me rollers as well, so I think it likely that he has 'em. Ted

I use HSP needle rollers, gaskets and double lip seals. Ives uses the same. Bulk needles are available but they are not the exact size Mcculloch used.

Tom, I thought Chuck W. was pretty much incognito these days. Can you still buy HSP stuff? He and I go back all the way to 1960, and I'd like to send my business his way sometimes. Thanks, Ted

To help you guys out......I can get the original HSP type needle rod bearings. $20.00 a set plus shipping. I need a minimum order of 20 sets to get them. You guys get together and pool your order. Once I receive an order for 20 of them I will go to my supplier. These are the 24 rod needle bearings. They come in a clear plastic packaging.
Elect one person to be the goto guy for placing your order and I will ship all to him and collect money from him. Just doing this to help you guys out and keep it simple.

Tom,
Any idea what the IBM needle bearings were used for at IBM? I worked there for 17 years, and don't remember seeing or hearing about production of needle bearings. IBM did manufacture many items internally, but bearings were usually purchased. It's possible that they had large purchasing power, and McCulloch ordered the bearings through IBM instead of buying directly from the manufacturer. It's a long shot, but I might be able to hunt down the manufacturer if it was not IBM, but would need to know the IBM part number, or application at IBM (Printer, Disk Storage, etc.....).

Jeff, The memory wasn't quite working on that one, I meant Xerox made the needle bearings, not IBM. Boy, how could somebody mix up those two? Length, diameter, end design, surface finish and Rockwell are about all I know about roller needles. If there's something more to them to know about then that I'd be interested. I have plenty of Genuine Mcculloch needles to use when I run out of the HSP. Tom
