Our good friend Chris Marchand passed away this week. He always enjoyed going to TBO and just driving rear engine karts. He will be missed by the vintage kart community.
There will be a calling (wake) for Chris this Sunday the 15th from 2 to 4pm at the Flowers Funeral Home, 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio.

This is very sad news.
Chris was a well liked guy who had a deep love for early karts and that was very evident by all of the super nice karts he owned.
Being a Ohio guy Chris is really going to be missed by everyone who ran Fremont Fun Days and THE BIG ONE.
Here's a couple of pictures of Chris with one of his show winning karts and a crazy idea he was dreaming about.
R.I.P buddy, you will be missed by many.... R.E.A.R.

Sorry to hear that news. Chris and I were good friends. Wondered why I had not heard from him lately. Hope his family is doing OK.

Hey, I know those guys !
Great photo Terry, Thanks for posting it.
Have been having conversations the last couple of days about Chris' recent passing and the passing of a few others in the historical karting community and the talks have brought about a sad reality that many of us REAR engine folks are not getting any younger.
With age comes health issues which also leads to a lack of mobility. We whole heartedly recommend that if you get the chance to go to a go-kart track, do so and do so as many times as you can. You don't need to run a kart to enjoy the hobby. The sites, the sounds, the smells, and the friendships you've made over the years are what make karting such a wonderful hobby so get out and enjoy it.
