Fuel Pump??

I’m figuring this is some type of fuel-pump. Though, what it is from or for, I have no idea. The lever knob does not turn the fuel line off. It changes the incoming line from one to the other line-in ports. Maybe, two different tanks or a main and a reserve tank.

Well its certainly a Mikuni fuel pump with a sediment trap you'd see on the old 3 and 4 wheelers, not directly Vintage kart related, but someone in the 4 cycle kart websites may be willing to give you $20 for it.

(Not all off road 3 and 4 wheelers relied on gravity flow fuel delivery like some 80's Suzuki Quads)

I found it in my pile of kart stuff. Years ago a bought out all the stuff from kart shop that was stored in a barn. Though it may have been used on a kart when a fuel tank is mounted on the floor between your feet.

This is quite true for most diaphragm types. But in the early years Delorto carburetors were in use on a lot of the imports. They were adapted over to many of the American engines. Even used on those larger twin cylinder water cooled engines. Delorto carbs came stock on the first Italian engines too. Bug Engineering sold a lot of them and the Parilla S-11 engines They had a smaller round fuel pump that bolted on front of engine crankcase using the pulse from drilled hole. This particular pump reminded me of a turtle.

That same round Mikuni fuel pump minus shut off valve and sediment bowl has been in use on 125 shifter karts since the late 80's when they first gained popularity. Briggs makes a plastic version that is used on a lot of lawn equipment. Mikuni also makes a smaller rectangular one too that is just as functional.
