no matter what they do with computers if the part has to be zero tolerance perfect they still need a human operator.
i loved that work story ,alot like how my dad taught me to be a carpender.
heres a hammer and nails go build that wall.
god forbid if i messed it up:
I WAS HIS SON I"M SUPPOSED TO KNOW THESE THINGS!!! he'd say in his not subtle way.
i learned to think first ,then do, that has served me well my whole life.
when he did bother to show me something i was expected to remember it forever.
but my dad wanted me to be a college man and sit at a desk so off to school i went.
got the degree but desks didn't work out , at least i was given a choice.
and it's true kids today expect to be paid for showing up.
it's sad.
i've had a few wander back after the world taught them a bit and then they were o.k. but none are "hungry"
what finally drove me away from model making was the constant management stupidity.
if i was 1 minute late they'd haul me in an office and explain how that was disrespectful to them.
for an hour!
then they'd casually hand me some disaster they'd created.
usually an important job that they'd forgotten for weeks that the customer was looking for.
they'd haul me away from my bench for hours for status update meetings.
then keep me late saving their bacon.
they'd pull me off work to fix aunt ellies ring "quick" then complain that my output was down.
all from dummies who would steal from each others designs rather than buy new ones.
there wasn't one job in the factory i couldn't do and i often had to trouble shoot the whole production line.
all while they constantly bought outside modeling services trying to replace me.
i would end up fixing the outside people's mistakes.
i never understood why they were that way except they were buttoned down and i'm casual to put it mildly.
finally i bailed and went to back to construction where i understood the people.
they judged my work not my "look"
finally ended up being a stage carpender where i am the buttoned down guy

funnily i make alot more money too.
but i miss the model work so this is kinda fun for me.
