INTERNATIONAL NEWS...The Big One

Post by REAR » Fri Nov 30, 2007 9:21 pm

Rear Engine American Racers and all of the participants of the 2007 running of "The Big One" have once again been bestowed with international press coverage in the December issue of "KARTING" magazine.

Based out of the U.K. and holding the distinction of being the sports oldest continual international publication, this is truely a honor for all of us to be recognized by such a outstanding group of journalist.

We are also proud of the fact that this year we were honored to present to roving international reporter Mr. Frank Weir a special achievment award in the form of a coveted 'BIGGIE' in appreciation for all of his work, support and dedication to the hobby of rear engine karting.

To the folks at KARTING magazine and Mr. Frank Weir, Thank You all.

R.E.A.R.

Eh, thanks, but $40 to read mostly about modern karting a continent away is a bit out of reach. I'd be happy to pick up the single issue with the Big One story in it though...

I think with the value of the dollar and the fee for oversea purchase on a credit card its around 100.00 :!:

The Brits love your event, they seem to look forward to it every year. I have done several custom 2-stroke bikes for a couple different guys, they get alot of attention from the Brittish press, and they have been published over there. Here, by contrast, the magazines ignore our Vintage 2-stroke events. Jay Leno did show up for our 10th annual 2-stroke Extravaganza this year at the Sepulveda Basin in Woodley Park, he has class! Anything 2-stoke is welcome, we had a Messerscmidt 3 cylinder 2-stroke car this year show up.

By the way, we do this event in July, and Karts are welcome. We had a guy with dual McCullochs, and several West Bend powered Mini-Bikes, I had my Clinton Panther powered Taco 22, and there was a GoKart 400 with a Panther as well. I will post the date of the event and directions...it's free to come and set-up, $15.00 to enter in the judging/concourse D'elegance, for which we give cool trophies( 2-stroke connecting rods and pistons on bases). And we have food, drinks, a raffle, and prizes/give aways, along with t-shirts. There is alot of shade at the park, and nice lawn to park the vehicles on, plus a ton of bench racing goes on!!!
